My name is MK Alger, and I’m currently a Junior at the University of New England. I’m working to achieve a B.S. in Marine Biology. I’m from Derry, New Hampshire, and I’ve always loved the ocean. Despite living an hour away from the coastline, my family took many trips to the beach during my childhood. I believe that this exposure to the ocean is what originally made me interested in Marine Biology.  During high school I participated in an internship with New Hampshire Sea Grant, and helped conduct research on salt marshes, oysters, and green crabs. This hands-on experience with marine research made me even more sure that I wanted to study Marine Biology. I hope to learn more not just about marine science, but about all of my subjects, including English. This site will mainly be used as an academic portfolio, right now with English assignments, and later on with any other noteworthy work I do. This may include essays, internships/volunteering, and possibly academic research.
